There are many new items on Volume IV with a total of over 8,000 files and 500 megabytes of compressed Macintosh‚Ñ¢ software.

Volume IV has expanded compatability to four (4) BBS systems. Second Sight, Telefinder, Mansion, and FirstClass. All of these BBS systems are excellent and we are trying to support as many sysops as possible.

Pete Johnson - Glassell Park BBS
In effort to bring you the best possible BBS CD-ROM we will showcase certain outstanding BBS systems from time to time based on requests and permission being obtained. In Volume IV, Pete Johnson has allowed us to complete our programing section with files from Glassell Park. Pete has written many great utilities for Second Sight BBS fans and we thought it would be appropriate to see his programing section. Pete has also granted us the ability to release three (3) new Second Sight utilities on Volume IV of the “BBS in a BOX” CD-ROM.
1). Copy Cat - is a stand-alone utility which will copy a group of files. Every morning I use Copy Cat to copy a bunch of text files from various places on the BBS across a network to one convenient local folder where I can browse them at leisure. Copy Cat is *not* designed for use in Tabby events -- you double click it, it does its job.
2). Rescan - is a Second Sight utility which will scan the entire message base and export all messages in selected public net sections to a text file which is close in format -- but *not* an exact match -- to the Tabby Generic file. It is designed to be used to bring a new BBS up to date with messages from an older board, or to reconstruct sections from a stable board to a board which has suffered a calamity. The board receiving Rescanned messages must process them with a utility called Rescanalotor to turn the text file into proper Second Sight messages.
3). CONDOR - ONLY AVAILABLE ON “BBS IN A BOX” BBS SYSTEMS!
Pete Johnson has licensed Condor ONLY to sysops operating registered “BBS IN A BOX” systems. Condor is a Tabby NetMail-compatible utility to regulate download quotas per month for a Second Sight BBS. To do so, it counts downloads each night, and if they exceed a pre-set level it sets or clears a user restriction flag defined by the sysop. Another sysop-defined user flag grants selected users immunity to the quota. Once again, being a registered “BBS IN A BOX” user has its advantages! Thanks to Pete Johnson for all his GREAT work!
The Future - Volume V
Look for additional BBS System support, revamping some description areas, limiting compression to Compactor, many additional new files, greater system 7 support, MSDN links, Macintosh BBS description compatability, System 7.1, showcasing more BBS file areas, original works and more...
Special thanks!
Special thanks and credit to Pete Johnson, John Sinteur, Rusty Tucker,
AMUG, Tom Rubarth, Don Lloyd, Frank Turovich, for helping make Volume IV of “BBS IN A BOX” a reality!
Support the Authors!
If you have additional features you would like to see added to “BBS IN A BOX”, please feel free to write or call us. We are interested in making the world of public domain and shareware easily understandable to the Macintosh public. Only by supporting these authors and sending in our shareware fees will this type of software distribution continue. No fee is charged for any of the download files provided on this disk. AMUG and MacWizards spend thousands of hours creating the BBS interface on this CD-ROM. Any charge for this CD-ROM is solely to support the BBS interface. Please pay for any shareware that you use. When we are dishonest with the authors he or she either stops publishing or sells their products commercially. Please be sensitive to this issue.
